Cultural Other Awareness

4 weeks already in japan, and when you asked about the difference between my culture in Indonesia compare to Japan, i'm going to say it's not that much of a difference. Probably because we both asians thats why we have many similarities, like for example we in Indonesia we are to reluctant to accept others offers for help, the same thing in Japan, but here i think the people was far more reluctant. Finding the difference is a bit hard, but i think everybody knows that Japanese people was very shy, so sometimes its kinda hard for us to approach new people. I also heard that here people didn't socialize a lot.

Anyway, i also notice something that make me a bit shock here, even though it doesn't sounds good, i'm going to say it anyway. Japanese people was far too hygiene compare in Indonesia, like for example the other day i was going to the gym, and everytime i finish some equipment, i have to spray it like crazy and dry it with towel (and yeah the even the dumbell too). Other times i was in this gaming room, and people even wipe their keyboard and mouse with some sort of disinfectant. At one thing its a good thing, but it is also making everything more complicated.

  1. I totally get what you’re saying—I've noticed the same thing at the gym here in Japan. Coming from Bulgaria, it's also strange for me to constantly clean every piece of equipment after use. It’s definitely not something we do back home. I understand it’s about hygiene, but sometimes it feels a bit excessive and slows everything down.
